John runs
Time to check in with John.
We are at T minus 36 days to the Bear 100 and counting.
The Bear is commin’ round the bend and the runs are getting longer. The sweat is pouring down and the shoes are wearing out! Since he started training, there have been a more than a few pair of shoes. They have come, been run all to pieces and hit the trash. John has found his sole mate (corny, I know)! His running buddy of choice is a brand spanking new pair of Altra Lone Peak 4.0’s. Most of the flexibility of the superior, he says, with the thicker gripping action and durability of the previous Lone Peaks. They just came out and already have 40 miles on them and layers of trail dust!
If you have it, check him out on Strava and see where his favorite runs are. He loves the technical runs and peaceful trails here in Utah and will be able to run a bit of the Bear course on August 25th. If you happen to be in the Logan mountains give him a wave!
Favorite Runs in the Payson Area – “P” Mountain to Four Bay, Jones Ranch to Frank Young to Rocky Creek. Loafer Mountain Trail, Canal Road. Cache Valley – Deer Fence, Dry Canyon, Wind Caves, First Dam, Green Canyon, Bonneville Trail. Around the Ogden area – Ruth Lake in the High Uinta’s and Antelope Island.
Goal Runs – Some where in the mountains surrounding Payson there is THE BIG TREE. A really, really big tree that is a landmark, John has not found it but it is definitely on his list of places to see.
Kings Peak, Mount Nebo, Mount Timpanogos.
